did some foraging today here in La Paz. found a few types of amaranth, some purslane, coast almond fruits, tiny local figs, and dried pods of palo verde. added a couple of tamarind pods from the tree in front of the house to the greens and fruit, chopped it up, and sauteed in olive oil for a bit. very tasty. then roasted the palo verde beans until they popped, and ate a few. nothing to write home about, but at least they can (barely) be chewed after roasting. it takes about 3 to 5 minutes over high heat.
